Cat Doors and Jigsaws

This past week, BT bought a jigsaw in order to install the ever-important cat door. Since we moved into this house last year, the cat's litter and food has been safely stowed away in the guest room. Well, now that the "Guest Room" is now going to be a "nursery," the cat no longer has the luxury of having her very own room. It was pretty pathetic anyway. There was a gate across the door with a cat door so only she could have access to the room with her food, her litter, and her very own queen sized bed. To say she is spoiled is an understatement. It's going to be a rough transition for one miss skyler. She's fat and mean enough as it is, and now she has to give up her room to a baby. BT says we really will have to watch her because he says she will try to smother the baby. I don't think she'll go that far, but I think she will throw some dirty looks my way for sure :)

Anyway, all that said, we had to find a place for the litter that was accessible for the cat, but not for the dog. For those of you who have the pleasure of having both dogs AND cats, you know dogs LOVE to eat litter poo. There's no pleasant way of saying that. So the litter budda will be going into a closet with tile flooring, only accessible by a cat door. The question of the day is...will our fat cat be able to fit through the door? we'll know more after this weekend! But here are a few pictures of BT using his new jigsaw to install the cat door, and one of Mr. Beau watching the whole ordeal unfold.





We are also right in the middle of clearing out the room and getting it ready for painting and furniture. This is the current awful state of the room:

We Ate A Lot

Waiting on pictures from Taylor, so in the meantime, a recap will have to do. We ate a lot. We slept a lot. We talked a lot. We got some sun. That about covers it! When I say we ate a lot, I mean this:

Friday night: Kerry's Italian Sausage & Basil Lasagna with Salad. For dessert: brownies and ice cream.
Saturday morning: my breakfast casserole
Saturday snacking: spinach dip, cajun roasted peanuts from the Peanut Depot, etc.
Saturday Lunch: homemade chicken salad and homemade pimento cheese, all thanks to Kerry & Jeff.
Saturday Night: Venison Burgers and/or Grilled Chicken, mashed sweet potatoes, grilled corn on the cob, cole slaw...Dessert: Fresh homemade blueberry pie...
Sunday Morning: Jeff's breakfast: scrambled eggs, bacon, grits...

Delicious! We had a great time catching up. Plus it was so much fun to see and spend time with little Bennett! There was LOTS of talking. Spent some great time down on the pier, in the lake, feet in the lake, some on the rope swing, etc. The boys had fun riding the four wheelers and atv all over the land, and they all did a good amount of fishing. My favorite time was with me, T, N, & K all up on the upstairs deck, sitting in rocking chairs and talking like old times. We had a blast!

Weekend in Mobile

We spent this past weekend down in Mobile and had a great time. Friday night, we hung out at home with my parents, Myles, Mally, and Grandmother. BT grilled some delicious steaks on the grill (seems no matter what city he's in, he always gets default grill-guy status), and Dad made some yummy grilled asparagus, twice baked potatoes, and brought in fresh from the garden tomatoes. It was a great relaxing night. Saturday consisted of a lunch at Dreamland, where we experienced the world's worst service, and an afternoon out with mom doing a little shopping. We picked up a few things at Children's Place: a couple pairs of footie-pajamas and a cute onesie that reads, "I love the Nightlife." Very presh.

Saturday night we had a grown-up dinner out with some of my all-time favorite people: Jess & Jeremy, and Elizabeth & Charles. We had a blast! I know E & J were thrilled to be away from toddler-ville, and my child ironically still seems to behave, so he came with :). Anyway, we had a wonderful time catching up and I can't wait to go down there and see them again!

nothing to report

People keep asking me (CBC & AWB) to update this thing. Sad to say, there's just not too much to report right now. I keep waiting for Jess to upload a picture from our trip to Mobile and dinner out Saturday night (hint, hint), but she hasn't done it yet. As soon as she does that, I can include that picture and write a fabulously witty post over how much fun we had at dinner with four close friends. Until then, sad to say, I haven't taken any pictures, and I have a hard time believing anything I have to say without 'talkies' would be enjoyable, since all we are doing is working during the week and going places on the weekend. I'll try to take more pictures in the next few weeks.

We are trying to finish a laundry list of things in the next month or so, including a nursery and my house project wish-list, so more to come. For now, though, I smell that crockpot chicken and need to go unload the dishes and get ready to cut my husband's hair. It's a very exciting Wednesday night.

New To Us!

We have been talking about getting a new car for quite a while now. We both have fairly small cars, and both are heavy on the mileage and we have driven them quite a while. BT's had 95,000 miles, and mine has 140,000 miles, but mine, being the reliable Honda that it is, is just a much better car, and it's also paid for. SO--after yet another trip to the mechanic for BT's car, we decided it was time to take the jump. What did we do on the fourth of July? We spent it at multiple dealerships car shopping!

After test driving quite a few cars, we seemed to keep going back to a Suzuki Grand Vitara Luxury Edition. It was a great deal, and we both loved the drive itself, and all the extras in the car. We slept on it, read about a kajillion reviews, all of which were very positive, and decided this morning to go for it. So, today, there is no more Galant, it's the reliable old Honda and our new bigger car! BT is going to drive the new car for a little while, then we're making the switch down the road. Note the Georgia Bulldog Colors (purely coincidental!).
