Really, Bear? Alabama?

Did anyone happen to catch this week's episode of 'Man vs. Wild?' His wild and dangerous adventures were in Alabama. Seriously? I might have to call BS on this one. Sounds to me like someone broke his shoulder a couple months ago and has decided to take the pansy way out of things. I think those of you who live here, camp here, and have spent your lives here can safely say it's REALLY not 'man vs. wild' worthy. On top of it all, he was in Little River Canyon. That's where we go camping. I've yet to encounter a wild boar, forrest fires, or need to make a rafting tube out of sticks, random pieces of styrofoam, and an old tarp I have to fish out of the water (while stripping down naked, mind you). Normally, if you need to get out of the woods in Alabama, do you know what you do? You walk about a mile or two in any direction, and you will hit a road. Or maybe a subdivision. Maybe even a nice Starbucks!

I tell ya, Bear is one lucky guy that some sand mountain meth-head didn't see him stripping down naked and take that as an invite to go 'deliverance' on him.

In addition, he kept talking about crossing some "swamp," (that looked like some shallow part of the river), and how dangerous it was because of all the alligators. Hey, Bear, we've got news for ya: THERE AREN'T ALLIGATORS IN NORTH ALABAMA.

Regardless, I have to say the silliness of it all made us laugh out loud the entire episode.

BT's Birthday Day of Fun

BT's 32nd birthday was this past Wednesday, so we celebrated yesterday. He decided he wanted to go for a white trash theme, and we had a blast! The first thing we did can't really be considered as such, but the second thing definitely can! We started out the afternoon meeting Kristen, Payton, Sam, Karen, and Pat at Lake Purdy, where we rented a Pontoon boat for the afternoon and went out fishing. We had a great time (even those of us who didn't fish!). It was nice spending the afternoon together, even though the ones fishing were a little frustrated with BT since he's the only one who caught anything. He caught a catfish, then a couple other little fishies. From my perspective, it was H-O-T, but we had a great time. Here are a few pics from that.






We wrapped up fishing on the lake around 6:30 last night, then everyone went home to shower, change, and eat a quick bite before we met back up here:


That's right! We went to the dog tracks! A few more folks joined us there, and by the end of the night had about ten people there, and we had a blast! If you have never been to the Birmingham dog tracks you can't quite fully appreciate it. It's like nothing I've ever seen, and in my line of work, I feel like I've seen a lot. So I definitely spent Saturday night seven months pregnant at the tracks! I got the award for best trooper all day because by the end of the day I was EXHAUSTED. You can tell by my picture below. But we had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday to my favorite husband ;-)

Update

Little boy is doing great! He is not too far ahead on the growth chart, but a little bit for sure. The ultrasound estimated him weighing in at 3 pounds 9 ounces already, so he should be "healthy" for sure! She got this picture of his profile in 4D mode, even though the copy didn't turn out too great due to some issues she was having with her printer. You can get the idea though. There's a baby in there. :)

We Should All Hope

Has Gov. Riley been perfect? No, but he has been excellently above average, and for once in my life, it's nice to not be embarrassed by a bumbling baffoon in the governor's office. Glad the Washington Times notices, too:

Well, this is it today!




BT has been working like a champ to get everything on his part done. He's finished stripping, sanding, and painting all the furniture, he painted the room, and put the crib together. Hopefully the rest of the furniture will be in by tonight (we're waiting on a friend to come over to help him move it up from the garage), and then I can start the fun part of getting it all ready! We're slowly getting there, which is good, considering as of today, I look like this:


I have my ultrasound Wednesday to determine if we are having a linebacker sized baby or if I just have a short waisted torso to explain why I'm measuring two and a half weeks ahead.

Cat Door Update

We've left the door cracked to the closet with the litter box for the past week to get the fat cat used to things.

Tonight we did training. I carried her in there and shut her in the closet with the door closed.

She flipped out.

But the good news is, I held the cat door up and she walked through.

BARELY. Her fat sides sort of scraped by each side of the door.

But she fit.

Then we did it all over again, and she came through on her own without me holding the cat door open.

Way to go, fatso!
