Can I Go Back, Please?

We left on Thursday for a great long weekend at the beach with Jessica, Jeremy, & Luke, and we had an absolute BLAST. Lots of good beach time, kid time, mixed with old friends catching up, and lots and lots of LAUGHTER. I needed the time with the waves and the ocean desperately. It was good for my soul.

Thomas seemed to really love it too. The ocean and outdoor pool was still too cool for a full swim, but he rocked it out in the heated indoor pool, relaxing like he should have been there forever.

A few highlights: dinner at the Shrimp Basket, catching up with Dan and Dorothy, T and Luke's first visit to the Flora Bama, playing Mexican Train Dominos, laughing hysterically with Jessica over a lunchtime treat at the Flora Bama :), and getting to see mom, dad, and Mally on our way out of town for lunch at Cracker Barrell.

That's the short version. Like they say, a picture's worth a thousand words.

I'm already ready to go back. Thanks for spending the weekend with us, Jessica, Jeremy, and Luke, and HAPPY 3rd BIRTHDAY LUKE!

Warning: Tough to Watch

I heard about this story this morning, and hearing the clip brought tears to my eyes. I'll give you fair warning: this is tough to watch/tough to listen to. Keep in mind, this was a drug raid, that resulted in finding a small bag of marijuana, and that's it. This raid was conducted in front of a child, and this child will have to live with the memory of this, and what these police did to his pet, for the rest of his life. I understand there are circumstances that merit self-defense, but in my opinion, this was sheer abuse of power and brutality.

Mother's Day

We had a fantastic day for mine and T's first Mother's Day together. I got to 'sleep in' this morning till 7:30, and woke up to a beautiful bouquet of flowers, and some great gifts that Thomas of course picked out all by himself :) He gave me a card, some candles, a picture frame, and a beautiful photo album. Then BT made waffles in the waffle maker for breakfast before we packed up the car and headed down to Montgomery for lunch. Thomas' great-grannie was down from Little Rock, so it was a great chance to see her, and for some good time with cousins.

After Jim n Nick's bbq for lunch, we all spent some time outside before we headed back home. Here are a few pictures from the day.

Dinnertime Fun

Whew

On Tuesday, April 20th, we took T to the doctor because of a bad cough and general fussiness.

Turned out he had a double ear infection, and some hay fever issues.

He went on Amoxil, and our doctor had us start him on a spring Zyrtec Regimen.

Fast forward to April 30th. The ten-day amoxil regimen was complete.

This past Saturday, May 1st, we found out about the recall, and stopped the Zyrtec.

Starting Saturday night, he started coughing again, and waking up from the coughing, eyes watering again, plus the teething kicked it up a notch in a major way.

He's been up every night since.

Last night was the worst. Up at 9:00, up at 11:00, up at 1:30, and finally slept from 2-6 in between us in bed. To say we were tired this morning is an understatement.

So back to the doctor today.
Amoxil didn't touch the double ear infection. His lungs are clear. The coughing is from the hay fever, and from the drainage from his head and his ears.

She put him on a stronger medicine and told us to go get the generic Zyrtec since the real deal is pulled off all the shelves right now.

Things that don't make momma happy: the GENERIC prescription for the stronger antibiotic was $65.

After doctor, T went to work with me.

After work, we went and picked up the prescriptions.

After that, we went to get the allergy meds. from Publix since they were out of it at the pharmacy.

After that, we went home. FINALLY.

He's a champ. And if this is my 'Sweet T' miserable with a double ear infection, teething, and hay fever, we've got a good kid.

Weekend

Can't say we did much at all this weekend. With the combination of gloomy, stormy weather, and a WHINEY, FUSSY boy, we pretty much stayed homebound. I think T is about to cut a tooth, at least I hope this is it. Good grief, he is a good whiner. I think he gets it from me. He has the 'whine' down to a T, and for him being as young as he is, it's pretty impressive. He also wants anything and everything that we are eating and drinking, from a bottle of soda, to a blizzard from DQ (who can blame him), to salad. He reaches his hand out, staring at the said food item, and does the whine.

He is also only content if he is able to roll back and forth, sit, then lean down to a roll, or bounce and jump up and down in his exersaucer. Boy is ready to MOVE. We, however, will be happy if he remains somewhat immobile for a little while longer. Don't know how much longer we have, though.

Any teething tips? I've found a cold, wet washcloth works well, and also a sippy cup with very cold water in it. Yes, we have the traditional teething rings, but they get warm so quickly i don't really think they work that well.
