We had a great weekend. friday night, BT and I experienced a 'life in your thirties' friday night. we started the evening off by going over to the SEARS in century plaza (all the while thinking we should be packing heat for the trip), because like everything else in Century Plaza, it's closing. What that means though, is killer deals on everything from appliances to clothes, etc. We were in the market for a weed eater. well, not so much me, but BT was. Anyway, after getting there at 6:55 and finding out the store closed at 7:00 (by the security guard posted at the door, in the parking lot, and also by the one checking receipts---can you tell this isn't known as the safest mall to go to?), we left for safer pastures in Trussville. We ate some dinner at Five Guys, which if you have never eaten there, you are missing out. Do yourself a favor and don't look at the nutritional information. just go enjoy your burger.
After Five Guys, we hit up lowes, where we bought some wildflower seeds to plant in the flower bed in the backyard, then proceeded to hit up Wal-Mart, where we actually bought said weed eater. BIG NIGHT.
Saturday promised to be much more fun since one of my favorite people came to town, one Mrs. Amber! After she came to see the house, our nephews came for a visit, then I fit in a nap, and we went over to Karen's house for a cookout.
Which leads me to the french toast. I met, Karen, Kristen, and Amber for breakfast Sunday morning at the Cracker Barrell, and where i also met some really good french toast. i recommend it.

Did anyone watch American Idol last night? Did anyone think that Johnny Cash probably rolled over in his grave a little bit when he heard that tripped out freaky version of his song? It reminded me of the movie Serendipity, specifically the girl's boyfriend (formerly known as Aiden from Sex & The City) who had that weirdo sitar band where he had the music video with the peasants and the theives. it was weird. kind of like this dude: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WM1nav-rjeI

Anyway, I'm fairly conflicted as I am in a pool with some folks from Cheryl's work. I consider myself fairly good at betting who is going home, which is why I even surprised myself this week putting Alexis Grace in the bottom two. But I've yet to hear anyone butcher 'Jolene' like she did, plus, I'll be honest: she's B.O.R.I.N.G. i'm tired of her. I put Scott McIntyre in the bottom two as well. I know, I know, he's blind. He will get some sympathy votes. But if I looked up boring in the urban dictionary those two faces would be staring straight back at me. I'm ready for both of them to go. I can't get me enough Matt Giraurd. I know he won't win, but I think he's fantastic. I can't wait to hear him sing "Walking in Memphis" one week.

On another note, we have a new niece. Sarah Kate is her name, born in a land known for their copious amounts of sitar. That's six nieces and nephews for those counting.

Monday

There are a few reasons why today has definitely been a Monday. First, it's been so nasty outside, pouring down rain and all gray and disgusting all day. Second, I feel sick all the time these days. I am so glad I was introduced to those lolly pop things. They're at least making me feel somewhat better. Even though I'm out now so I need to go to pick up more on my way to the gym this afternoon.

Cheryl told me that SOAP net is going to start playing Gilmore Girls. It's already on ABC Family. I think it's kind of funny how something can be qualified 'family' for ABC Family, and 'soapy' for the SOAP network all at the same time.

This weekend was pretty good for us! We went over to Buffalo Wild Wings friday night to watch some basketball and eat dinner. Saturday i spent the day feeling ill on the couch while BT was extremely productive doing stuff around the house. Saturday night we went to a cookout at Kristen's, then Sunday was a much better, more productive day as I cleaned out and organized my closet.

On a completely other note, did you know that i have always been terrified of letting my cat outside? I blame it on my friend Taylor, who when we lived together in Athens STRONGLY suggested i get her declawed b/c Skyler was tearing up the furniture. So i did. and i regret it. ever since then she has been destined for a life indoors, constantly staring out windows and storm doors (while she does this, i hear one of two songs: either 'is there life out there' by reba mcintyre; or 'part of your world' from the little mermaid). ANYWAY, i was very proud of myself the other day for bringing her outside chaperoned. She's such a pleasant cat, never looks mad at all:

New Camera Time

It's time for a new digital camera. I've had mine for about five years now, and what used to be super cool is now extremely large-looking, bulky, and only SIX megapixels! now they make them with like a thousand megapixels, which is ridiculous. SO...we're about to get a new camera to go with our new computer. it seems like everything always needs upgrading at the same time. yesterday i was looking and found the camera i think is good here. it's a good solid camera, 12mp, comes with an additional 2g memory card, and has that precious teeny tripod which i think is the cutest thing! just a solid decent camera for a good price. so then to be funny, BT writes me back over email and says, yeah, but what about this one. the sad thing is, even though he says he was joking, i think there was a little part of him that was serious :-). anyway, all that said, once we get the new camera, i'm going to try to do things like keep it with me to take pictures at all times. until then, here's a video of our dog in the snow, because that isn't random enough.

ok, i have given in to the peer pressure. i'm going to officially try this thing. even though i worry no one will read it and that everyone will think it's too cheesy for me to do it. i'm going to try it. i think it'll actually be good for family far away.
