Zoo Day!
This afternoon, I took Thomas to meet my friend Kerry and her little boy Allan at the zoo. We had a great time, and Thomas really took it all in. He never made a peep the entire time, just watched anything and everything. Needless to say, he sacked out on the drive home, and is currently cashed out for the night from his busy day. Here are a few pics from our great day together!

Commence Weekend
Our four day weekend has begun!
Daycare's closed tomorrow, and BT and I both took tomorrow and Monday off.
It's gonna be nice.
Tomorrow: yard work in the morning, and I'm taking Thomas to the zoo with my friend Kerry and her little boy Allan tomorrow afternoon.
Saturday: spring cleaning, organizing, and CLEANING OUT.
Sunday: Easter basket fun in the morning, followed by church, then more of Saturday's events, and going to pick up our new headboard for our bed.
Monday: while Thomas goes to school, BT and I are tackling the last stage of Extreme Makeover: painting our bedroom and bathroom. I know I'll love it when it gets done, but right now I'm dreading the work involved. It will all pay off when I lay down to sleep in my 'still moment' blue room.
Many pictures will follow next week, I'm sure!
For now, though, I've got to go watch Grey's Anatomy and enjoy my four days off :)

I've talked before about how important we feel it is for Thomas to love food: real food. We talked about this long before we knew he was even on the way. I know it's because both BT and myself grew up in homes with parents that cooked: cooked fresh ingredients, cooked from scratch, and even when they didn't they made sure we developed an appreciation for good, wholesome ingredients. My parents made my baby food from scratch. I'm sure they mixed some jarred baby food in there somewhere, but for the most part, my dad cooked and pureed all vegetables, fruits, and meats that I ate. He told me the other day that I loved pureed roast beef. I mean, he pureed everything.
We pulled out the Beaba Babycook tonight and started the process. We bought four sweet potatoes at the store today, on sale, and those four potatoes were $1.04. That breaks down to twenty-six cents per potato. One potato steamed and pureed made three servings. Which means one serving of potatoes (ie: equivalent to a 2oz jar) cost 9 cents. A jar of the organic babyfood we buy Thomas costs .69/jar. That's a sixty cent savings. So YES, it is cheaper too.
It was so easy, and so fun! Of course we're also very grateful to have gotten this little handy contraption from a friend for a baby shower present, but you could also just as easily regularly steam and blend the foods with the kitchen equipment you have on hand.
Cut to the chase...with five minutes of peeling and dicing, fifteen minutes of steaming, and two minutes of pureeing, we have fresh, homemade baby food for our little guy! Our plan is to do some serious cooking next weekend to stock the freezer with the essentials. Of course, we'll still use the jarred food too, but this just makes me feel a little better about the food he's getting, and in my mind, I hope that it will help him develop a love for fresh, pure, natural ingredients long-term.

Wow
My little sister got engaged yesterday. We all knew it was coming, but still doesn't take away from the moment. I was 11 years old when she was born. I felt many times like I was the third parent with that little baby girl. She's 20 now.
Makes me realize how quickly time flies.

Weekend
Had a great weekend over here.
Friday took T down to meet his grammie and aunt chandra in Clanton, and he went down to Montgomery with them Friday night for some grammie/gramps and aunt/uncle/cousins time. Hear he didn't sleep too great, but sounds about right based on his week last week. Thankfully last night, he slept all night once again, which we needed desperately.
We had a great night out with friends Friday night, then Saturday morning, slept in, went out to breakfast, and got tons of yard work and Home Depot time in. It was really good time just the two of us. By the way, we officially bought the paint for our bedroom and bathroom. It's called "still moment," and I totally love it. Also bought some pansies for the flower bed out front. Hope to have said pansies and paint planted and put on walls by the end of next weekend.
Took some cute pictures of T this weekend, but they're at home on the camera. I'll get them on here eventually.
