And photo two:

Anyone have suggestions for good photo editing software, preferably for FREE? I hear photoshop is good, but is it worth the subscription? Or is there a free version? Obviously I'm just now looking into this and haven't really done any research yet, but any advice anyone (Anna) might have would be super helpful :)

I like Picasa. Google it. =) Thomas looks so cute!!
i think that you can download and try photoshop elements for FREE for 30 days.
Picasa is awesome! And free!
www.picnik.com is pretty cool. there are a lot of photographers i know who start with that program. you can use the free version and then upgrade (for like $20 to the full version) if you like it.
i've used picasa too and really liked it. it's actually the program i started with. only thing is that it takes up a LOT of space on your computer but it's a great program.
photoshop CS4 is the best (for a mere $1000)...but photoshop elements is all you'd need (it's all i need, but i use lightroom too). you can download it for a 30 day free trial, and i dont think it's (elements) much over about $80 or so. it's a fabulous investment, and after i import to lightroom and do some exposure/lighting adjustments there, i move everything into elements to work with eyes and any digital scrapbooking/frames i do. i was hooked on elements after my 30 day free trial :) it's amazing what sharpening up those snapshots can do to them!
i hope that helps! email/message me if you have any questions. not saying i have all the answers but maybe i can point you to someone who would :)
