September Sucks

Here are my reasons that September sucks:

  • A/C blew the beginning of the month.  So hot outside, so hot inside.  At 10pm, it was a nice 88 degrees in the house, which led to me taking Thomas to spend the night at the Hampton Inn by our house since he couldn't sleep and I was drenched in sweat.
  • Recruitment: I do love being the advisor for my sorority, but it also means a long, stressful month full of LONG nights.  They did good, though, and I was proud.
  • A blown tire in the middle of malfunction junction on I-65 downtown.  Sat, again, in the heat, waiting for my boss to get there.  Luckily we were saved by the ALDOT traffic services guy who put the spare on in no time flat.  That resulted in two new tires.
  • As referenced above, at said tire blow on the interstate, upon getting into my car, my cell phone fell out of my pocket and broke in two pieces on the side of the road.  Luckily I put it back together for a temporary fix.
  • Mr. Beau got lost.  Poor Darlene, I know you read this blog, and I know how awful you felt about it all!  Mr. Beau went to have a play date/slumber party over at my aunt's house while BT and T were in Montgomery and I was busy all day and night with Recruitment.  He's a fast one, that Mr. Beau, and escaped out the front door in no time, gone for three hours, with his momma and his auntie Darlene and cousin Frankie the dog looking tirelessly for him.  Little did we know we should have listened to my dad who said "once the sun goes down, he'll come back."  Never having been to Darlene's, I doubted him.  I shouldn't have!  The sun went down, and in came Mr. Beau, back from a three hour adventure in the woods!
  • Last week: had a wreck with a guy with no insurance in the parking lot of the health dept.  First estimate says it'll be about 900 bucks to fix it.  I did the guy a favor, though, by letting him leave and not filing it, so even though it's no-fault, he's paying for half.
  • Tuesday, my cell phone finally broke for good.  I had to get a new one.  Sad part: a year's worth of pictures of T gone....Luckily I had already emailed myself my favorites.
  • Sunday Thomas woke up from his nap with a 101 fever.  By that night, it was up to 104.  Off to the doctor on Monday, with a fever virus to blame.  I stayed home Monday, BT stayed home yesterday, and I stayed hom today with him for good measure to make sure his fever stayed down and he was good to go.  He should finally be ready for school in the morning.
SO---September SUCKS!

On the bright side:
  • Our home warranty paid for our A/C to be repaired, and my parents offered to foot the bill for mine and T's night in the hotel.
  • While Recruitment was long, it gave me MUCH needed girl time with good friends doing something I just LOVE to do.
  • The tire debacle, while scary, was okay.  No one was hurt, and Thomas wasn't in the car with me, and my mad skills at repairing my cell phone bought me another two weeks of life with it...
  • Mr. Beau was found!
  • While it'll be pricey to fix the car, at least half is paid for.
  • While it was a pain my phone broke, at least it conveniently happened at my "new every two" upgrade time.
  • Our Tommy Tom is on the mend, and while he's not felt well, we still are reminded daily of how blessed we are to have such a healthy, happy child.
So while September sucks, most of the time it's the really sucky stuff that teaches you what to appreciate.

So this month I appreciate my husband, my son, my parents, my aunt, my friends, our jobs, and my happy little life....
See ya later, September :)
