Remember a while back when I talked about the natives feeling restless, feeling the need to declutter and simplify?
Well, I've decided we're going to start with our bedroom. Our furniture in there is officially ten years old. To say we've put our bedroom on the backburner when it comes to decorating, making it aesthetically pleasing, is putting it mildly. The furniture itself is in decent shape, minus one piece: the bed. Our bed has officially had it. First off, the giant lab that sleeps at the foot of it has scratched up the footboard to where it looks like a scratched up piece of driftwood. Then, to top it off, the bed has broken on the side, to where if you move at all in there, the headboard bangs against the wall. Needless, to say, this is not ideal. So all that said, it's time to just bid farewell to the bed. We have a queen sized frame we are going to use for a while, then eventually just get a headboard. But right now, I sort of like the idea of a queen frame, sort of matches up to that simple thing I'm trying to embrace.
Second thing I hate about our bedroom, and this is totally our fault, none other: the two main pieces of wall art we have in there are seriously poster prints that are still in plastic frames that I got in college. NO JOKE.
Do you see why it's time?
So my plan is this: to prime the one wall with color on it now (the brown accent wall), and paint our entire room a very cool blue color (totally inspired by this house I went to yesterday for a shower). I'm thinking this.
Then, once we get the bed frame out and simplify that, I'm planning on getting a new bedding set. Off the top of my head I'm thinking creamy, dark brown simple paisley designed. Yes I have seen it, but i'd rather wait until I know that's what I'm going to get.
As for the walls, I want something simple to put over the bed (any suggestions are welcome), and then plan on getting some simple cool looking frames to do some black and white prints in them on the other wall.
I guess I'm sort of thinking shabby/chic. I would love for it to be all 'chic' and no 'shabby,' but since our budget doesn't allow us to buy ALL new furniture, then I can use the 'shabby' excuse like I meant to :)
Anyway, it's high time for us to have somewhere nice to retreat to, and I'm ready for a more grown up feel.
I will take pictures of the before & after. Extreme Makeover: Bedroom Edition planned for March 12-14!

I have a few rooms in our house you can makeover as well-when you get bored and restless! Hope you all have a fun weekend. I'm sorry I won't be there. Takes lots of pics.
