Oh September...

Remember how September was a totally rough month for us?

About a month ago (in September), we were all piddling (that's a word people need to use more often) around one night when we heard a LOUD crash on our roof.  I mean LOUD.  The next morning, we discovered a huge limb and portion of the DEAD pine tree next to our house must have fallen on our roof and onto the ground.  Oh well, we thought.

It really hasn't rained a drop here since that point.

Until Sunday night.

Cut to Monday morning.  Water. In. Our. Garage.

And it WASN'T from the ground.  The wood rafters in our unfinished basement/garage were wet at certain points, but there was no sign of leaking or water damage inside.  It was all very strange.

Until BT climbed up on the roof to discover the HOLE.  The rainwater had strategically fallen through the hole, through the walls, and down into our garage.  Now there are a few things to be thankful for: no water damage to the inside of our house.  No one was hurt by the gi-normous dead tree, and also that we have an UNFINISHED basement garage.  So that's good.

So today we have another reason to shake our fist at September, as we get the estimate from the tree service about removing the tree, and the estimate from the roofer about repairing the hole, both of which will hopefully be covered by insurance.  We'll see.

If it's not one thing, it's another!  We just keep repeating the mantra, "it's just money."  :-)
